Cabinet Terms of Service
Last updated: 1 September 2026
Provided "as is"
Cabinet is a local-first visual board app provided as is, without warranties of any kind. It runs in your browser and stores your boards on your device by default; an optional account adds shared boards, AI features and marketplace features, which are backed by Cabinet's servers. See the Privacy Policy for exactly what goes where.
Accounts
A Cabinet account (email + password) is optional and only needed for sharing, AI and marketplace features. Keep your credentials safe: you are responsible for activity under your account. AI features use API keys you supply for third-party providers; your use of those providers is governed by your own agreements with them, and any usage costs they charge are yours.
Closing your account
You can request self-service account deletion from the Account panel, choose Delete account and confirm with your email address. When deletion succeeds, it is immediate and cannot be undone: it removes your account, the shared boards you own and your place on boards other people shared with you. A seller account with a product version that somebody has bought can currently be blocked from self-service deletion; contact hello@cabinet.cool if that happens. The Privacy Policy lists exactly what is removed and what is kept.
Boards saved only on your own device are not part of your account and are not affected. Closing your account is not a way to delete them, and clearing this device is not a way to close your account — they are two separate actions, in two separate places.
We may suspend or remove an account used unlawfully, to infringe someone else's rights, to harm or harass other people, or in a way that puts the service at risk for everyone else. Where it is practical we will say why first, but we may act immediately where the situation calls for it.
Availability may change. Cabinet may add, change or withdraw features, and may stop operating the service. Where practical we will give notice first. Keep your own exports and backups so that nothing you depend on exists only on Cabinet's servers.
Your data and backups are your responsibility
- You are responsible for your own data and backups. Private boards are never stored on Cabinet's servers. Boards you explicitly share are stored server-side so others can view them, but sharing is a collaboration feature, not a backup — do not rely on it to preserve your data.
- Local browser data may be lost. Boards saved only in your browser can become unavailable if you clear browser data, use private/incognito mode, or switch browsers or devices.
- Do not use Cabinet for data you cannot safely back up. For anything important, export an encrypted backup and/or enable Google Drive sync.
Optional Google Drive sync
Google Drive sync is an optional backup/sync feature.
When enabled, Cabinet stores only an encrypted Cabinet vault in your own
Google Drive's private application-data folder
(appDataFolder), using the narrow
drive.appdata scope. It is not required to use Cabinet, and
it does not give Cabinet access to your other Drive files. See the
Privacy Policy for details.
Exports and sharing
Full backups are encrypted with your passphrase. Plain
single-board exports (.cabinet-board.json, "Export current
board") are not encrypted — anyone with the file can read its
contents, so share them only intentionally. "Export password-protected
board" produces an encrypted board file protected by a password you
choose; that password is never stored and cannot be recovered. You are
responsible for what you choose to export and share.
Shared boards and links: sharing a board uploads a copy of it to Cabinet's servers, and a share link makes that board viewable by anyone who has the link until you reset or turn the link off. You are responsible for what you share, for who you give links to, and for having the necessary rights to the content you share.
Marketplace (optional)
Cabinet is not a party to these sales, and the money never passes through it. Payment goes directly from your wallet to the seller's. At no point does Cabinet receive, hold, route, escrow or control the funds, and it has no ability to move them. What follows describes exactly how that works.
When marketplace purchasing is available, it uses USDC on Solana. Cabinet builds an unsigned transaction that pays the seller's token account and gives it to your wallet. Your wallet signs and submits it. Cabinet does not receive your wallet's private key, does not sign or submit the payment, and does not hold the USDC. After submission, Cabinet receives the transaction signature and reads the signed public transaction through a Solana RPC provider to verify the purchase.
Cabinet cannot reverse a payment or issue a refund. A payment recipient may choose to send a separate refund. Cabinet cannot send one on a recipient's behalf because Cabinet does not receive or control the payment funds.
Marketplace purchases use a versioned licence. The quote and purchase rows store the licence kind, licence version and purchase-terms version; the purchase row does not store the exact text or its hashes. The listing stores hashes of the canonical licence and terms text, and the payment transaction commits to those hashes through its sale-commitment memo.
Payment and creation of the Cabinet entitlement are separate steps. The browser retries confirmation after the wallet submits, but the current deployment has no scheduled background recovery route. If the browser closes or confirmation remains unresolved, the quote and on-chain reference remain available for recovery, but completion may require the operator to run or wire that recovery process.
Sellers are responsible for what they sell: that it is theirs to sell, that it does not infringe anyone's rights, and that it is what they say it is. Cabinet may remove a listing at any time. Listing state is not checked by the entitlement-based delivery route, so pausing or removing a listing does not by itself revoke an existing entitlement. Access still depends on Cabinet operating the delivery service and retaining the snapshot, and a rights takedown can remove content already bought. Cabinet cannot recall a copy already downloaded to a buyer's device.
You are responsible for your own tax position on anything you earn or spend here.
No warranty / limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Cabinet is provided without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. The authors and operators of Cabinet are not liable for any loss of data or any damages arising from your use of, or inability to use, Cabinet.
